Hernan Zeballos, Fellow of the consulting firm Parity Consultores Bolivianos, presented an analysis on the situation of soy in Bolivia for the period 1990-2013.

Continuing the tradition of periodically assess the situation  of the behavior of the oilseed sector in Bolivia, whose last assessment was performed by  Dr. Zeballos himself on 2012 in his  study "BOLIVIA: Desarrollo del sector oleaginoso 1990-2011, Boletín IBCE de Comercio Exterior No. 207, octubre 2012”. This recent presentation covers the period 1990-2013.

This periodic exercise conducted jointly by  IBCE (Instituto Boliviano para el Comercio Exterior) and ANAPO(Asociación Nacional de Productores de Oleaginosas) is of extraordinary importance for the purpose of determining the situation of the domestic and international market for oilseeds. This sector has become for the last 15 years as an important activity generating employment and income for the country and for the Department of Santa Cruz.

In the study, Dr. Zeballos seeks to contribute to initiatives on global and sectorial economic policies that will maintain the pace of growth of this productive activity which, as shown in the report, has a productivity level  between 2 and 3 ton / ha (at the regional level can be considered as moderately low) and shows a steady increase in their production areas.
